OAKLEY, Contra Costa County — October 25, 2026. City street maintenance is entering another phase in several Oakley neighborhoods. The city says its Street Repair and Resurfacing Project CIP 333B covers roads in Teakwood, Magnolia Park and Big Bear, with treatments and pavement reconstruction scheduled in stages through November 2026.
What is the current project schedule?
On its official CIP 333B webpage, Oakley lists earlier pavement-striping removal for September 14–18 and crack filling between September 21 and October 2. The surface-treatment phase — including chip seal, microsurfacing and slurry seal — is scheduled from October 5 through November 2. The page identifies the week of October 26 for a second slurry-seal phase in which some streets are to receive a first layer and others a second layer.
Oakley also notes that an emergency involving a contractor’s chip-seal crew caused a schedule revision dated October 8. For that reason, a published phase range should not be treated as an infallible block-by-block calendar. Residents should read the latest attached daily schedule and temporary signs.
When does major paving begin?
The city’s timetable lists November 2–20 for a further phase of roadway paving and structural reconstruction at designated locations. Final roadway striping is expected after that work, later in November. These are anticipated construction windows rather than independently verified completion dates.
What will drivers notice?
The city advises residents to plan for temporary lane closures, short traffic delays and construction noise during work hours. Work can change parking availability and driveway access on specific streets, so residents should check notices before placing vehicles along scheduled treatment areas. No continuous closure is claimed for all roads in these neighborhoods.
Why does pavement preservation matter?
Chip seals and slurry seals can help preserve surface condition, while reconstruction addresses road areas requiring more extensive work. The specific treatment used on a street depends on the city’s condition assessment and construction plans. Project information should be compared with the city’s final acceptance records before anyone concludes that every segment has received its planned treatment.
Oakley’s notice lists project contact Mostafa Nakhaei, 925-625-7117. Readers can see the current official project webpage and follow Oakley News for local road coverage, including the separate Brownstone Road utility-closure alert.
